The Glastonbury Webcam. Oh, how I have watched you during the cold grey winter reminiscing about all the unforgettable moments I have witnessed on those fields.
Did you know that Glastonbury has a webcam? The BBC put it up years ago and it scans those beautiful fields of Avalon all day long. You can watch along here:
Where is the Glasto Webcam & what can you see?
The Glastonbury Webcam is attached to a barn up near the farmhouse. You can see views of The Pyramid Stage, The Woodsies Stage, and The Green Fields. Oh and beautiful Somerset. You also can see the back of The Other Stage.
Why watch The Glasto Webcam?
Well, it is the perfect place to get a sneak peek of what is going on down at Worthy Farm. Normally, from April you will start to see a lot of activity build-up. It is amazing to see this city develop from nothing. For me, it is one of the most amazing feats of the festival. Credit to all the people behind it.
Another good reason to keep an eye on the webcam is that sometimes they “announce” a new Glastonbury Headliner on it. For example, in 2022, the webcam “spotted” a rocket flying over the frame of The Pyramid Stage. Keen-eye fans realised that they were announcing The Rocket Man (Elton John) himself would be headlining Glastonbury 2023.
Some fans who have missed out on Glastonbury tickets like to watch along on the webcam. Personally, I don’t know how they do it. I could never watch anything to do with Glasto if I didn’t have tickets. I would fly to a remote place on earth like Mongolia and turn off all technology!
Maybe some Glasto haters will watch along especially if the weather is rainy. Let them watch, what they don’t understand is that we love the place no matter what the weather.
The Glasto Webcam is another unique thing about this festival. It sits perfectly with The Underground Piano Bar, the fascinating Glasto history and Arcadia. Make sure you keep having a look at it over the spring to see the festival get built.
