Cockmill Meadow Glastonbury. The Cockmill Meadow campsite is the second family camping area at Glastonbury (the other one is the Wicket Ground). I have camped there for years, so I know quite a bit about it.

Where is the best place to park for Cockmill Meadow?

If you are coming to Glastonbury by car, the best place to park at Cockmill Meadow Camping Area is in the purple or blue car parks.
Which gate is best to enter for Cockmill Meadow?

You can enter through Gates B or C to get to Cockmill Meadow.
How quickly does Cockmill Meadow Fill Up?

You can still find a place at the back of the campsite right up to Thursday afternoon. Now that they have added The Ash Tree Family Camping area right next to Cockmill Meadow there was even more space in 2024. Of course, no year is ever the same but over the last few years, there has always been space.
I still recommend arriving at Glastonbury Festival on the opening day though. You acclimatise quicker, many fun events are going on and you don’t have to navigate the site with crowds of people moving around.
Is Cockmill Meadow Noisy?
No, not at all. It is one of the reasons why we camp there. The only noise you will hear is the static coming off the electricity lines as there are some pylons in the area.
Pros and Cons of Camping at Cockmill Meadow
Pros:
- It is quiet if that is what you are looking for.
- It is close to the Kidzfield (right below the campsite).
- It is close to The Pyramid Stage.
- There are food outlets nearby and one of them is open 24 hours.
- There are some great bars close by like The Cider Bus and The Village Inn
- The toilets are cleaned regularly.
- There are showers (normally with queues) nearby at The Kidzfield.
Cons:
- If you want to camp in a party area then this is not for you.
- It is far from The Park Area, Shangri La, Unfairground and Block 9.
- Sometimes Gate B seems to take longer than others to get in.
Conclusions
There are reasons why we always seem to camp at Cockmill Meadow. We always find space for our group, it is quiet and there are decent amenities nearby. It is perfect for families as The Kidzfield (and showers) are nearby.
The one pain is that it is at the opposite end of The Park and South East Corner. But I would rather walk back from the madness than camp near it. If you would rather be closer to it then maybe Cockmill Meadow isn’t for you.
Remember, you will hardly spend any time in your tent so don’t stress too much about where you camp.
See you on the farm.
