Rabbit Hole Glastonbury

Glastonbury Festival Info, Glastonbury Tales, Stages & Areas / June 17, 2022 by Paul Farrugia / 17 Comments

Rabbit Hole Glastonbury. Now that the Rabbit Hole has gone and has been replaced with The Wishing Well and Scissors this post will be a nostalgia post!

We were crawling on the floor laughing our heads off. Before you say it, it wasn’t because of the amount of cider we had consumed. No, the man on the “door” instructed us to crawl on the floor.

We went around bend after bend until we got to an opening. As we crawled through we emerged into an area of Glastonbury I had wanted to visit for ages. The Rabbit Hole.

Is The Rabbit Hole A Glastonbury Myth?

If you haven’t heard of it, The Rabbit Hole is another “secret area” of Glastonbury Festival. Unlike The Underground Piano Bar, the Rabbit Hole generally stays in the same area of the festival. Which is in The Park.

There are two Rabbit Holes and people get confused at what all the fuss is about. The Rabbit Hole Bar is easy to find and has great live music. The “other” Rabbit Hole is trickier to find.

It’s All A Riddle

Look for Alice in Wonderland-type clues like white rabbits, teapots, etc. If you see people queuing for something random, then that could be it.

However, just because you have found it, it doesn’t mean that you can waltz straight in. Oh no. You have to answer a riddle first. How do you get the answer? Well, the answer to the riddle always seems to be passed on at Glastonbury.

We have always had the answer but have not always found the Rabbit Hole!

Inside The Rabbit Hole at Glastonbury

Once you have entered the Rabbit Hole expect a festival within a festival. Think Mad Hatters Tea party on acid!

When we were there in 2019, there was a large bar, dancefloor, DJs and street performers. There are lots of tents with things going on in them. And I am sure there was a hot tub!

The entrance to The Rabbit Hole is opened in the evening. They never say when so you have to be lucky. When we went it was open around sunset because I remember watching Michael Kiwanuka play at The Park Stage.

It gets busy, and you will probably have to queue, but this is Glastonbury. Don’t be surprised if you catch a secret set in there too. Fontaines DC and Let’s Eat Grandma have played there.

Maybe we had too many ciders?

It stays open until at least 04:00. I honestly can’t remember what time we left. Okay, maybe the ciders and rum did have an effect on me after all! I am sure about that jacuzzi though!

There are many areas of Glastonbury that make it not just another festival. The Stone Circle, The Green Fields and the charities come to mind. Add The Rabbit Hole to that list.

If you have the chance, do try and find it. My mission this year is to be in The Rabbit Hole, The Underground Piano Bar and the Secret Bar in the NYC Downlow. Like all Glastonbury plans, that could all just evaporate with the randomness of the moment.

This sounds amazing and would love to experience this! A group WhatsApp would be a good idea then at least if one of us finds it and gets the riddle right, we all get to enjoy the fun!

I went here last year, it was amazing. Can anyone remember if the hole is decent size to crawl? I’d love to take my partner but their a bit bigger.
